Namaste and welcome to our journey!

I suppose we should tell you a little bit about who we are and what we are being called to do.  My name is Kara and I am part of an incredible team of three other students, Kelsey, Mike and Daniel, and we will be traveling to Neapl with an organization called Tiny Hands International.

Tiny Hands is a Christian non-profit organization dedicated to helping the poor overcome poverty in the developing world, paying particular attention to orphans, street children, and the victims of sex trafficking. Tiny Hands operates in Nepal, India and Bangladesh and has their head office in Lincoln, Nebraska.  This organization has aided thousands of individuals by providing homes for street children and orphans as well as safe houses for victims of sex trafficking.  For more information regarding Tiny Hand’s work, check out their website at http://www.tinyhandsinternational.org/.

So, with your help and the help of other family and friends, we will have the opportunity to travel to Kathmandu, Nepal for six weeks from June 23rd to August 5th to work toward the mission of Tiny Hands.  Over five thousand children live on the streets in Kathmandu and each year, as many as ten thousand women are trafficked across the border into India.  Tiny Hands is a grass-roots organization that actively intervenes in the trafficking industry to save the lives of young women across Nepal, many of whom are not much older than myself.  In every girl that is intercepted and every child that is taken off the street, there lies a new life that is waiting to be discovered, one that is filled with hope rather than darkness.

More to come
