Dear Pokhara, thank you for stealing my heart.

Top 10ish…

10. On our first morning in Pokhara, Daniel, Sarah and I went on an exploratory run around the lake and a pack of dogs came and followed us. We went from a 3 man wolf pack to a 5 man wolf pack and it was glorious-view-time together-hilarious dogs.
9. Post amazing run, breakfast by the most beautiful lake surrounded by the idyllic mountains, we decided we should rent a paddle boat and go have some laketime fun! Fun it was…the paddle boat was big enough to fit 8 of us and the other 3 got a rowboat and we ventured to the center where we swam, dove, jumped and played Mafia…of course.
8. Pokhara is the best? Yes.
7. We saw THI Dream Center plan for Pokhara which I will let another blogger explain, but know that it was the most amazing view and such an exciting venture for Tiny Hands.
6. It is about 1000 degrees hotter in Pokhara…and I love it. We all got niiice and brown/RED.
5. We discovered "Perky Beans" right across from our hotel which has the greatest "smoothies" in the world. Chocolate banana=ice cream scoop of chocolate on top of everything amazing about banana and chocolate. Amen.
4. Today was one of the greatest experiences of my life. After visiting the Dream Center in the scorching sun on our already burned skin, we thought it would be a great idea to jump into the lake. Little did we know that jumping in a river would be an option. Not just like a nice steady river but a swiftly flowing awesome blue river that had shiny rocks. Viviana in our group wanted to renew her baptismal promise there so our guide Santosh performed the blessing. It was truly the perfect moment.
3. Turns out we are all really good at driving scooters. 'Nuff said.
2. Again and again the parents and children we see at the children's homes are some of the most amazing, gracious, welcoming, and generous people I have ever met. Yesterday we went to a home of a lot of older kids. Imagine raising one 14 year old-yikes. Imagine raising 5. I have never seen teenagers so excited to play, laugh, and be thoroughly joyful.
1. Today was a bit more of a challenging emotional day. We had another "John's Cool Destination Lecture series" today at a place overlooking the whole lake/mountains. So gorgeous. There we discussed the ethics of American materialism/living with regard to supporting those less fortunate. I have a lot of different opinions in the matter but when it boils down to it, I believe we are placed where we are in life for a reason and given our gifts that we have been given for a reason. It's not about hating or feeling guilty about the life you have but instead taking what you learn from experiences and others and integrating that into your life in a way that is driven by the love and care for our neighbors.

All the love.
K
