What up Pokhara? You are beautiful.

Top Ten:
10. Turns out that Sarah and I thought that we had fleas or bedbugs of some sort in our room in Kathmandu. Good thing we are now in Pokhara where I found two huge wasps in my room shared with Aksha (John's gf and other THI employee).
9. I found all six seasons of Lost for $18…so needless to say Sarah and I are pretty psyched and the quality is actually good. Boomshakalaka.
8. Yesterday we learned about street children in Kathmandu and the cycle of their lives. It's an extremely interesting and challenging problem that delves far deeper than drugs or alcohol. We actually went out to the streets to meet some of them and I look forward to doing more relational ministry with them. After all-all you need is love.
7. I found ice cream in Kathmandu, turns out it does not taste the best. Probably good considering my addiction to ice cream.
6. Without my steady stream of Diet Dr. Pepper with Vanilla in my veins, I caved and bought 2 cans of Diet Coke yesterday which are $1 each, aka a luxury item. They were the best 2 Diet Cokes of my life.
5. We have been running into another team here from Azusa Pacific University in California working with Tiny Hands and last night was their last night here. So we all got together, played games, made tacos and brownies, and played "murder" which turns out is a terrifying game-shocking. I chose to hide in a corner which brought back lovely memories of my dear sister locking me in a basement storage room.
4. I have never been more grateful for the road systems in the US as I was today during our ride to Pokhara. Bright side-the most gorgeous mountain views with literal roadside waterfalls and the coolest roadside cafes.
3. Within the first hour of our 7 hr trip to Pokhara there was an accident on the road. We were stopped at the time attempting to look for some breakfast when everyone started to run to their vans. When there is an accident traffic apparently can get held up for hours and hours. So we then hightailed to our van and made it through the mess in 15 min. It was a mango truck that had hit the wall on a sharp corner and tipped over.
2. Today in group discussion, held by the lake during sunset, we were talking about books that we have read. In my discussion I brought up "Heaven is for Real" (thanks Mom!) and I was struck by the simplicity of the loving of a child. Even at children's homes that we visit here. Every single child is so quick to love and open their hearts. I feel as adults we tend to put up fronts or walls to block emotions from getting in the way, but what are we without emotions? I think I can learn a lot from the kids we see everyday…see below.
1. My entire day was made by the beauty and calmness of Pokhara, the faith and joy of the children we visited in the homes, hanging out in a restaurant writing this blog with friends, and getting told by a 8 year old girl "I L-O-V-E You!" Complete with sign language. Just amazing.

All the love.
K
